aerationAs you prepare your lawn for the upcoming summer months, consider adding aeration to your list of to-dos. Aeration adds oxygen to your lawn’s roots. So if your lawn looks a little drab, aeration can add life and make it look greener and healthier.

If you’re interested in learning more about aeration and its benefits, give us a call. Our J&D Lawn Service team is passionate about making your lawn and yard look great. And aeration is just one of our many services.

Before we aerate a lawn, we take a look at it it’s current condition. This will help us determine if just certain sections need aeration or if it’s the entire yard. One of the ways we can determine the need for aeration is by inserting a steel pole into the soil. If it goes in smoothly, aeration might not be needed. If it goes in hard, aeration is probably required.

By allowing oxygen to get to the roots, aeration speeds up the growth of new grass. Over time, new growth will fill in the holes made by the aeration, creating a healthier looking lawn. Aeration also strengthens your grass from dangers such as draught and disease.

The best time to aerate most Arizona lawns is April thru June, when the grass isn’t growing as rapidly. However, if your lawn has been seeded or sodded in the past year, aeration is not recommended. You need to give your lawn’s roots time to get established and grow properly before aerating.

If you’d like to add life to your lawn and want help from the professionals, give us a call. We’d be happy to help you get your yard ready for summer. Our work isn’t done until you’re happy with the results because we are a cut above the rest.
